with is military and religious past, is like an
architectural jewel mounted in a clasp of vines
which produce world-reputed wines. The
Auberge de la Commanderie is one of the historic
sites located at the heart of the medieval town.
The main part of the building was of templar origin
and the annex was used as a last hiding place by
the counter-revolutionary Girondin deputies. Both
building are a unique of old Saint-Emilion and were
renovated in 2003.
